AL HASEEB APPARELS · BUYER GUIDE
MOQ means minimum order quantity: the smallest order a supplier agrees to produce under a particular specification. For custom clothing, ask what the minimum applies to—style, colour, fabric or total order. One headline number rarely describes every part of a collection.
MOQ is a set of questions, not just one total
A brand may plan one order of hoodies, but that order can contain several colours, fabrics, decorations and size ratios. Each decision changes the programme the manufacturer must review. Ask for the minimums and permitted size breakdown in writing before committing to a launch quantity.
| Minimum to clarify | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Per style | Does each pattern or construction need a separate minimum? |
| Per colour | How many pieces or how much fabric must be ordered in each shade? |
| Per fabric | Can styles share the same approved composition, construction and finished weight? |
| Labels and trims | Do custom neck labels, zippers, drawcords or packaging have separate minimums? |
| Decoration | Does the proposed print or embroidery have a setup cost or minimum by design? |
How a colour split changes your first order
Illustration only: a proposed order of 600 hoodies in three colours gives 200 pieces per colour if divided equally. The same total in six colours gives 100 per colour. If a hypothetical supplier required 200 per colour for that fabric, the first split would meet that condition and the second would need revision.
This is a planning example, not Al Haseeb Apparels’ advertised MOQ. Your actual minimum depends on the reviewed specification and written quotation. It also does not mean that every size must have an equal quantity; agree the size ratio for each colour.
What can make a custom programme more complex?
Custom-dyed fabrics, several fabric weights, special trims, multiple wash effects and different artwork versions introduce separate decisions and setup work. Ask which elements of the proposed brief drive the minimum or sample cost. This helps you revise the collection without changing its essential design.
For hoodies, compare pullover and zip-up constructions carefully: they can share a visual identity but use different trims and sewing details. For T-shirts, confirm whether the selected colours and weights belong to one fabric programme or several.
How to simplify an initial clothing order
- Start with the strongest style and a focused colour selection.
- Keep fabric specifications consistent where that suits the collection.
- Provide one approved artwork version with clear placements.
- Separate essential custom trims from optional packaging additions.
- Ask whether an available fabric alternative would change the minimum, cost or schedule.
Agree any alternative through samples. Reducing complexity should still leave you with the fit, feel and appearance your customers expect.
Compare the total order cost
A smaller quantity can have a different unit price because development and setup costs are spread over fewer garments. Request garment prices, sampling, labels, packing, inspection and freight on a clearly stated basis. Compare the same fabric, decoration and delivery scope across offers.
Do not choose a larger order purely to obtain a lower unit price without considering your total stock commitment and size assortment. Use your own demand forecast and budget when deciding which quotation to accept.
Can sizes be mixed within a colour?
Ask the manufacturer to confirm the allowed size breakdown and whether special sizes affect the proposal. Give pieces per size, not just a broad size range.
Does a sample order establish the bulk MOQ?
A development sample and a bulk production order have different purposes and costs. Agree sample charges and bulk minimums separately.
