How we plan a garment export order

  1. Review the export brief. Send your tech pack or reference sample, fabric specification, quantity breakdown, delivery destination and target date.
  2. Develop and approve the sample. Review the fit, measurements, fabric, colour, decoration and labels. Record the approved details before bulk production.
  3. Confirm the commercial scope. Agree the price, currency, payment terms, packing, inspection requirements, shipment basis and production schedule in writing.
  4. Produce against the approved specification. Define the checkpoints for measurements, workmanship, appearance and any requested testing or inspection.
  5. Prepare packing and shipment. Confirm the size ratio, carton markings, document requirements and dispatch arrangements for the destination.

For the manufacturing stages in more detail, read our sampling and production process. For country-specific briefs, visit our overseas apparel sourcing guide.

Export packing, documents and delivery planning

A useful export quotation identifies what is included and who handles each part of delivery. Include the following requirements in your enquiry:

Order detailWhat to specify
Garment packingIndividual or bulk packing, folded dimensions, size ratios, barcodes, hangtags and carton markings.
Commercial documentsInvoice and packing-list details, consignee information and any requested origin or shipment documents for review.
Freight quotationDestination country, port or delivery postcode, preferred air or sea shipment and requested shipping terms.
Quality approvalApproved sample, measurement tolerances, inspection method and any order-specific test reports required.
Import preparationLabel language, fibre and care information, importer instructions and destination-specific requirements.

Ask our team to confirm the available shipping basis and which freight costs are included. Your importer or customs broker should confirm destination duties, taxes, classification and clearance requirements before shipment.
